Food Security Education Project (FSEP)
Undergraduate Scholars
Nepali students who wish to pursue an education in the food security sciences (agricultural disciplines, human nutrition, environmental science, and allied fields) are invited to apply for a scholarship during fall semester each year. The large number of applications received demonstrates the magnitude of the demand for a program such as ours which supports in-country education geared toward improving food security.
A careful review of each application is followed by a consensus decision of the FSEP Scholarship Committee and FSEP Advisory Board to identify students who are offered a scholarship. It has been very difficult to decide which students are offered support within our limited budget. We unfortunately are not able to provide funding to many deserving students.
Agriculture is Nepal’s principal economic activity and yet much of Nepal is food insecure. Trained food security professionals permanently leaving Nepal is causing grave concern about the future of the country and development of its economy. FSEP scholarships are intended for students who plan to serve in food security related fields in Nepal after receiving their degree or following studies abroad.
The following 22 students from four Nepali Universities have been offered either a full or partial scholarship for the 2025-2026 academic year. Scholarships are offered for the semester of application and each semester thereafter, assuming the scholar remains in good standing.
These scholarships open the door for talented Nepali students to pursue careers in agriculture, nutrition, and environmental science—fields critical to Nepal’s food security. By supporting their education, we’re investing in local solutions to hunger, poverty, and climate resilience.
