Food Security Education Project (FSEP)
Undergraduate Scholars - 2025
Background
Nepali students who wish to pursue an education in the food security sciences were invited to apply for a scholarship with an application deadline of December 1 2024. Over 400 applications were received which demonstrates the magnitude of the demand for a program such as ours which supports in-country education in the food security sciences.
A careful review of each application was followed by a consensus decision of the FSEP Scholarship Committee and FSEP Advisory Board to identify students who would be offered a scholarship. It was very difficult to decide which students would be offered support within our limited budget. We unfortunately were not able to provide funding to many deserving students.
Agriculture is Nepal’s principal economic activity and yet much of Nepal is food insecure. Trained food security professionals permanently leaving Nepal is causing grave concern about the future of the country and development of its economy. FSEP scholarships are intended for students who plan to serve in food security related fields in Nepal after receiving their degree or following studies abroad.
2025 Scholarship Recipients
The following 20 students have been offered either a full or partial scholarship for the 2025-26 academic year.
Scholarships are being offered for the current semester and each semester thereafter assuming the scholar remains in good standing.
Funds have been successfully transferred to Nepal to support these students in their academic programs. These scholarships open the door for talented Nepali students to pursue careers in agriculture, nutrition, and environmental science—fields critical to Nepal’s food security. By supporting their education, we’re investing in local solutions to hunger, poverty, and climate resilience.
