Scholarships

Background

Nepali students who wish to pursue an education in the food security sciences were invited to apply for a scholarship before a December 1 2024 deadline. Over 400 applications were received which demonstrates the magnitude of the demand for a program such as ours which supports in-country education in the food security sciences. 

A careful review of each application was followed by a consensus decision of the FSEP Scholarship Committee and FSEP Advisory Board to identify students who would be offered a scholarship. It was very difficult to decide which students would be offered support within our limited budget. We unfortunately were not able to provide funding to many deserving students.  

Agriculture is Nepal’s principal economic activity and yet much of Nepal is food insecure. Trained food security professionals permanently leaving Nepal is causing grave concern about the future of the country and development of its economy. FSEP scholarships are intended for students who plan to serve in food security related fields in Nepal after receiving their degree or following studies abroad.  We are suggesting a minimum period of three years of service. If your intent upon completion of your studies is to seek employment and remain abroad we respectfully request that you decline our scholarship offer and allow us to use funds for scholars who will spend time in service to Nepal following their education.

2025 Scholarship Recipients

The following is a list of students to whom we are offering either a full or partial scholarship for the current academic year. Applicants not on this list will not be offered a scholarship at the current time but are fully eligible to apply for future scholarships when available. Each of the successful applicants have been contacted and asked to provide additional information, but we unfortunately have not been able to contact several of these students.
