The cost of a university education in Nepal is a significant challenge for many families where average family income is $2,600 (2025). Income of Dalit families ("untouchables") are well below this level.
Providing access to education in a country where agriculture is the largest component of the national economy is essential to addressing food insecurity.
Providing access to education is especially helpful to young girls where arranged marriages are common and 41% of girls marry before their 18th birthday. With financial support many young girls can choose education over early marriage.
