Suraksha is from the city of Dhurkot in the Gulmi District of southern Nepal. She is pursuing a B.Sc. degree at Agriculture and Forestry University and is interested in soil science and identifying problems related to soil and crop productivity. Her further interest is in service as an extension worker to inform farmers of improved practices that enhance sustainability. Suraksha is concerned with the exodus of Nepali youth to seek employment abroad and how this affects the ability to create opportunity at home. She is from a poor farming family and understands the basic needs of food and clothing that can be fulfilled by an agricultural occupation.
