Sandhya is from the Arghakhanchi District of Lumbini Province, just north of the border with India. She is pursuing a B.Sc. Ag degree at the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science on the Paklihawa campus of Tribhuvan University. She is interested in the discipline of plant breeding and the development of climate resilient varieties with improved nutritional value through biofortification. Sandhya’s father is blind, and her mother has poor vision; thus, it has been difficult for Sandhya to continue her studies.
