Samrachana is from the Jajarkot District in the Karnali Province of western Nepal. Food insecurity in that region due to extreme climate, natural disasters, and lack of roads impairs economic development. She is in a B.Sc. Ag degree program at Agriculture and Forestry University and would like to pursue M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees related to her interests in plant breeding and human nutrition. Samrachana comes from a poor farming family where each day brings financial challenges, but where she has always been encouraged to pursue her academic dreams.
