Mamata is from Western Nepal’s Bajura District, one of the seven districts recognized as food insecure by the Nepali government. She is studying for a B.Sc. Ag. degree at Far Western University. She is familiar with the challenges of ensuring food security, as her family is engaged in subsistence agriculture and finds it difficult to afford a quality education for herself and her sister. Mamata is interested in research related to sustainable soil management and hopes to become an expert in the subject to serve the marginalized people in her district.
