Himal is from the food insecure district of Jumla in western Nepal. He is a student in a B.Sc. program at the Graduate School of Agriculture and Forestry, Surkhet. Himal’s father is a farmer for half the year and a laborer in India the other half of the year, while his mother supports their farm. Through the education his scholarship can provide, Himal plans to help farmers who struggle under adverse economic conditions and cannot fulfill their family needs.
